Wall-E was surrendered to the county shelter when it was discovered he suffered from a heart murmur. Whether it be the medical cost, the time, or the simply the fact that Wall-E was “defective” Wall-E’s owner decided he could no longer care for him. At only 6 months old Wall-E’s future looked grim. The shelter began extensive medical tests to learn more about his condition. Wall-E visited a heart specialist who concluded that he suffered from a grade 7 heart murmur (one of the highest grades). This meant his condition was beyond medical help. There was no way to know if Wall-E would live 3 days or 3 years. This left a huge question, who would want to take on a dying dog? After hearing Wall-E’s story we were eager to help and luckily we had just the family. Erik and his son Ethan were desperate for the company of a dog after recently loosing their pit mix, Buster, to cancer. Erik had asked me to find the dog who needed their help the most, one who really didn't have any other chance. Wall-E was just that dog. Erik and Ethan couldn't have been happier to welcome Wall-E into their home. They feel in love with Wall-E imminently and it was pretty obvious Wall-E felt the same way. He was spoiled with cuddles, car rides, long walks, and sun tanning in the ballpark while rooting for his best friend on the field. He even traveled down to Butler university to visit Erik’s daughter, Elissa. Wall-E spent almost every weekend at the family’s cottage in Michigan, which quickly became his favorite place. As the doctor said, Wall-E’s heart did eventually give out, he passed away at the cottage this past Saturday. Although Erik, Ethan and Elissa only had Wall-E for 2 months their love for him couldn't have been any stronger and we can honestly say these were the best two months of Wall-E’s life.
Congratulations Riley! Riley was adopted into a loving home with another furry bff for her to play with. She will enjoy plenty of tummy rubs, walks, and play with her new brother and sisters. We are so excited to see what the future holds for this sweet pup.
